Objective

The objectives of Atlantis University’s DBA program are to:

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

The goal of the Doctor of Business Administration program at Atlantis University, as the highest possible coursework-based graduate program in this field, is to further develop the competencies of practicing management and business professionals, and to equip them with the ability to make leadership contributions to their own organizations, their industries and their communities.
The DBA program is primarily completed face-to-face and offers structured support for all coursework and a dissertation. It enables graduates to develop rigorous, in-depth, analytical and self-reflective skills well beyond what they learned during their master-level studies. Business executives who enroll will gain the tools to undertake significant applied research in order to perform an increasingly competitive global environment. The curriculum offers successful candidates a highly customized program.

Atlantis University’s MBA graduates may be able to transfer credits to the DBA program. They must have earned an above-average GPA in all applicable master-level courses within the last 10 years and be in good standing with the university. All transfer of credit is reviewed by AU’s Admissions Department.

Breakdown by Stage

Stage I - Core and Basic Research Training

  • Quantitative & Qualitative Research Methodologies for Managerial Decision-Making
  • Multivariate Statistical Analysis
  • Trends in Globalization and Management
  • Management Information System for Strategic Decision-Making
  • Advanced Fundamentals of Strategy

Stage II - Specializations (Major)

Students are invited to work with their program director to create an area of specialization based on either a sector/industry (such as health care) or a particular knowledge/discipline (like human resources marketing). Atlantis University is currently offering two majors spanning three courses and 10.5 credits: Family Business or Management of Private Health Care Organizations. We can provide guidance about what specialization to pursue.

Stage III - Examination and Research Design

Comprehensive Examinations
Critical for learning assessment, the comprehensive examination is a practice that will allow the institution to evaluate each student’s command of fundamental topics and issues pursuant to their DBA. The comprehensive exam will take about eight hours and will include critical content of the core curriculum and the specialization courses. Once the student shows proficiency in the comprehensive examinations, he or she has the right to move to the dissertation stage. The comprehensive examination will be designed and graded by three faculty members.
Action Research Methods
Students will apply to a real research project a multi-method approach combining inductive and deductive approaches with qualitative and quantitative research methods.

Stage IV - Doctoral Research Thesis

Dissertation Research I
With the guidance of an assigned supervisor, students will present to the faculty a research proposal the will describe both the content and research methodology of the dissertation, as well as justify its relevance and contribution to the field. A member of the faculty will coordinate the presentation of the research proposal to an academic council.
Dissertation Research II
Students will elaborate on their dissertation with the guidance of a supervisor in front of a thesis committee with two faculty members. This process will be overseen by another faculty member.
